Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Naval Research Laboratory, part of the Department of the Navy, is seeking a firm-fixed-price contractor to restore the Thomas Edison statue and its limestone base in Washington, D.C. The work includes cleaning corrosion, applying new oxidation to the bronze, lacquering and waxing the statue, and cleaning and repairing the stone base, with the contractor also responsible for providing all labor, materials, and equipment. The project must comply with the National Historic Preservation Act and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Restoration and Rehabilitation, and the contractor must provide a work plan, safety and health plan, a full-time Site Manager, a qualified Conservator, and a treatment report with continued-care recommendations.
