The Department of the Navy, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Mechanicsburg, is soliciting bids for compressed gas cylinders and associated end plugs. The contractor must manufacture, design, and deliver Type SF, Class 5000 / 0.5 cubic feet flasks used in crucial shipboard systems, which are designated as Special Emphasis Level I items due to the high severity of potential failures. Technical requirements include strict material traceability, extensive testing such as hydrostatic and magnetic particle inspections, and compliance with the MIL-DTL-22606 standard. All units must be completely mercury-free and undergo final government quality assurance at the source.
