This document is a Justification and Approval (J&A) for other than full and open competition issued by the U.S. Consulate General in Hermosillo, Mexico. The Consulate seeks to acquire brand-name-only Maytag home appliances, specifically nine washing machines, seven gas dryers, and two electric dryers, for its Furniture and Appliance Pool. The primary justification for specifying Maytag is to maintain standardization across the Consulate's appliance inventory, which currently consists entirely of Maytag products. This consistency ensures reliable service for residents, utilizes readily available local repair parts, and leverages accessible, skilled local technicians to keep maintenance costs low. Authorized under 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(2), this brand-name acquisition will not limit vendor participation. To ensure fair and reasonable pricing, the procurement will be competed among multiple distributors via the Unison Marketplace, allowing various sources to bid on providing the specified Maytag models. The justification was certified on July 9, 2026, by Logistics Supervisor Saulo J. Ochoa and Contracting Officer Chad Moore.
