High Energy Laser Technologies for Maritime Applications
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The United States Coast Guard is conducting market research to determine the availability and technical readiness of high energy laser and comparable directed energy technologies for maritime applications. Respondents must provide detailed information on systems capable of incapacitating targets of interest, such as uncrewed aerial systems and uncrewed surface vessels, across fixed sites, cutters, and small boats. Submissions should detail physical dimensions, power and cooling requirements, software load, and system survivability against harsh maritime elements like sea spray, shock, and vibration. Organizations must include a Technical Readiness Level based on Government Accountability Office standards and rough order of magnitude costs for acquisition, installation, and production. Responses are limited to 20 pages per technology and must be submitted electronically to Kiemisha Sweetney at smb-comdt-coco31acquisitions@uscg.mil by August 20, 2026.
