Contract Opportunity Analysis

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Glenn Research Center intends to issue a sole-source contract to Modulate Space Corporation to acquire research and development services for a 5G system for lunar surface communications evaluation. Under this two-phased effort, the contractor will develop and laboratory-demonstrate a 3GPP-compliant Network-in-a-Box prototype integrated with Wi-Fi 6, followed by a lunar surface flight demonstration to characterize the radio frequency propagation environment. The technical objective is to advance this compact, size, weight, and power-optimized wireless architecture from Technology Readiness Level 3 to TRL 6/7 to support the Ignition Moon Base initiative. Capabilities and qualifications from other interested organizations may be submitted via email to Ian Park at ian.park@nasa.gov no later than 4:00 PM EDT on July 17, 2026.
