Federated Search
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is pursuing a planning-stage Federated Search effort through its Office of Intelligence Operations to identify a contractor capable of building a real-time search capability across disparate internal and external data sources. The work centers on designing, developing, and implementing a single interface with custom connectors, data segregation, and secure retrieval across multiple platforms, along with training, project management, application development, UI/UX, and testing. Key constraints include compliance with NIST SP 800-53, Section 508 accessibility, ATF data governance and Agile practices, and integration with the agency’s identity and access management environment; the work is also described as occurring at ATF headquarters in Washington, DC, with personnel requiring SECRET eligibility. This is a sources sought/RFI action rather than a solicitation, and responses were due March 20, 2026; the RFI is now closed, with submissions requested as a 15-page PDF white paper attached through GSA eBuy rather than entered in the platform fields.
