RVP10 Intermediate Frequency Digital Receiver (IFDR10)

The Department of Commerce, specifically the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), intends to award a sole source contract to Vaisala, Inc. for the procurement of two RVP10 Intermediate Frequency Digital Receiver (IFDR10) units. This acquisition is critical as the RVP10 will replace the aging RVP9 digital receiver, which is integral to the NEXRAD system, and is necessary for engineering development and testing to ensure continued operational capability. The RVP10 is uniquely suited for this role due to its proprietary design and the associated software that operates the WSR-88D Pedestal, making Vaisala the only vendor capable of providing the required equipment with minimal risk and system changes.
