Shark Marine Navigation Tablets

The U.S. Special Operations Command requires a sole-source procurement of the Shark Marine Tablet 2 underwater navigation system for Special Operations Forces dive operations. This system is essential due to its specific software integration, hardware mounting, and unique data interfaces compatible with MARSOC's current propulsion inventory. The Dive Locker currently uses legacy Shark Marine tablets, and familiarity with the brand ensures a seamless transition and reduces training uncertainty, especially given strict timelines and budget constraints for upcoming evaluation exercises. Market research confirmed that alternative navigation systems from companies like GreenSea IQ, Teledyne Marine, VideoRay, and Riptide Autonomous lack the necessary integration features or cannot be modified to meet MARSOC’s specialized operational needs, particularly for DPV integration and low-drag profiles. Procuring a different system would lead to significant delays and increased costs. Due to a five-month lead time from Darley Defense, the only other authorized reseller, a sole-source contract with Shark Marine Technologies is being pursued to meet the unit's mission requirements.
