Precision Military Free Fall (MFF) Parachute System – Request for Information (RFI)

The Department of the Air Force's Special Warfare Contracting Office is seeking information for a new Precision Military Free Fall (MFF) Parachute System to replace the current RA-1 system, which is nearing its service life end in 2027 and no longer meets performance requirements for global Personnel Recovery (PR) missions. The existing RA-1 parachute restricts high-altitude deployment and precision landings, increasing mission risk. The new system must include a main canopy, reserve canopy, and container/harness, with specific Key Performance Parameters (KPPs) and Key System Attributes (KSAs) outlined for deployment methods, altitude, suspended weight, glide ratio, and system compatibility. The Request for Information (RFI) is for market research only and seeks responses from interested parties detailing product capabilities, compliance with industry standards, company information, cost estimates, and potential risks. Responses are due by October 29, 2025, and will inform the government's acquisition strategy.
