Sources Sought USACE MVK Mat Barge Modifications

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District, requires modifications to 34 mat barges used for transporting articulated concrete mattresses. The project involves replacing existing C-channel runners with 6” x 14” rectangle tubing on the barges, which are 160’ long x 34’ wide x 9.5’ tall. Contractors must provide all labor, equipment, and materials, including purchasing and installing new components. Bidders must quote a minimum of five barges and their facility must be located on the Lower Mississippi River, or within specific limits on the Inter Coastal Waterway or Ohio/Tennessee River. Work is expected to start in January 2026, with all modifications completed by June 30, 2026. Detailed requirements include specific welding procedures, material dimensions, and spacing. All contractor welders must be ABS and AWS certified. The government will conduct periodic quality assurance inspections. Security requirements mandate compliance with DoD and Army security training, physical access controls, suspicious activity reporting training, and E-Verify program participation for all personnel.
