5.56mm M1042 Loose and M1071 Linked Marking Ammunition for Use in Close Combat Mission Capability Kit

The U.S. Army Contracting Command–New Jersey, on behalf of the Office of the Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunition Systems, is planning a procurement for 5.56mm M1042 loose and M1071 linked marking ammunition for use in the Close Combat Mission Capability Kit. The work covers manufacture, testing, inspection, packaging, and delivery of the cartridges in accordance with military performance specifications MIL-PRF-32313 and MIL-PRF-32315. The ammunition is a reduced-energy, non-lethal marking round used with CCMCK conversion bolts in modified M4/M16 rifles and M249 SAWs, and the planned award is a firm fixed-price requirements contract with five one-year ordering periods in FY26-31. The acquisition is planned as other than full and open competition on a sole-source basis to Ultimate Training Munitions in the United Kingdom, and the government anticipates issuing the formal solicitation on or about the week of 23 March 2026.
