The Astrogeology Science Center (ASC) requires enhancements to the open-source desktop GIS application QGIS to improve planetary data visualization and analysis. The project aims to fix bugs related to planetary projection codes, geodesic measurement tools, and scale bar generation, as well as enable proper handling of WMS/WFS layers with planetary projections. An optional requirement includes implementing support for geocentric X,Y,Z map projection in the 2D QGIS viewer. Deliverables must be committed to the QGIS GitHub repository, compatible with current QGIS builds, developed in C/C++ or Python, and include documentation and passing unit tests.
