The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is seeking quotations for accelerator mass spectrometric (AMS) analysis of Iodine-129 in groundwater samples collected at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL). This Request for Quotation (RFQ) is an unrestricted opportunity, and the evaluation will be based on firm, fixed price, technical capability, past performance, and past experience. The project aims to continue a long-term Iodine-129 study, focusing on previously under-recognized sources at the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) complex and monitoring migration at the INL. The contractor will analyze approximately 60 groundwater samples, along with quality control samples and laboratory blanks, using AMS methods. Analytical results, including Iodine-carrier mass, 129-Iodine concentration, sample mass, measured total 129-Iodine atoms, process-corrected atom concentrations, 1-sigma uncertainties, and activity equivalents in picocuries per liter, are to be submitted within 180 days of sample receipt. The period of performance is from April 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027.
