Bio-Rad QX200 Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR) System

The National Institutes of Health intends to award a firm-fixed-price purchase order to Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. for the acquisition of a Bio-Rad QX200 Droplet Digital PCR System. The procurement covers the system's proprietary droplet-based digital PCR technology, which uses a unique microfluidic droplet partitioning approach to enable the absolute quantification of nucleic acid targets. This sole-source acquisition is justified because Bio-Rad Laboratories is the unique manufacturer and provider of this technology, and no alternative commercially available system provides the required combination of high precision and sensitivity.
