The Department of Defense, through the Navy’s NSWC Crane on behalf of USSOCOM, is seeking prototype solutions for a Modular Kinetic Lethal Drone VTOL aerial loitering munition under a special notice. The effort focuses on developing and assessing low-cost, recoverable, reusable FPV UAS with a modular lethal payload and a compatible ground control station, supported by autonomy development, HV ESAD integration, and fielding-ready test articles for government-led evaluation. Solutions must be NDAA-compliant and ATAK/AI compliant, meet the stated size, payload, battery-swap, communications, temperature, TRL, and precision attributes, and include training, packaging, transportation, and ancillary kit considerations. SOCOM is seeking up to 100 units across multiple awards, the action will follow the NSWC Crane CSO process, and any successful prototype OT may lead to a follow-on production award without further competition.
