Valued as a FY 2026 Operations & Maintenance, Army (OMA) action, the contract provides all-inclusive system protection, including accidental damage coverage, software updates, parts replacement, and a physical replacement parts kit. Boston Dynamics is the sole source developer, manufacturer, and proprietor of the SPOT hardware and proprietary software, possessing the exclusive technical data rights and OEM parts required for maintenance. No authorized third-party resellers exist. Market research, including a solicitation on the Army's CHESS portal, yielded no viable alternative vendors, resulting in an approved Statement of Non-Availability (SONA). Without this warranty, the non-operational robotic platform will remain grounded, rendering a high-value government asset useless and degrading the U.S. Army Recruiting Division's public engagement missions.
