RF Architectures Applying Photonic Timing and Routing (RAAPTR)
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is soliciting innovative proposals for the Radiofrequency Architectures Applying Photonic Timing and Routing program to develop radiofrequency system architectures that utilize optical timing backbones. Performers will design, fabricate, and test vibration-hardened photonic oscillators and ancillary analog-RF components capable of maintaining low phase noise and timing precision under harsh operational environments. The effort is structured as a two-phase, 42-month program that transitions from laboratory development in Phase 1 to integrating components into a mature brassboard prototype for airborne flight testing on a government-furnished platform in Phase 2. DARPA anticipates awarding three to five milestone-based Other Transaction for Prototype agreements from a total funding pool of $58 million, with mandatory abstracts due by July 13, 2026, and full proposals due by August 24, 2026.
