Special Notice: NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION is seeking inquiries from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture, and market the technology of generating polystyrene latex spheres with incorporated fluorescent dyes. These polymeric particles are extensively used for various applications such as seeding airflows in wind tunnels, biological and histological staining. In wind tunnel applications, these particles are used for particle image velocimetry to determine the interaction of models and surfaces with surrounding airflows. The ability to seed the airflow with a material that accurately portrays the airflow properties while enabling near wall measurements with improved signal to noise ratio is of high interest to wind tunnel researchers. Interested parties can submit a license application through NASA's Automated Technology Licensing Application System (ATLAS). No funding is provided by NASA in conjunction with these potential licenses. For more information, please visit the NASA Technology Transfer Portal. No follow-on procurement is expected from responses to this Notice.
