SURTASS Low Frequency Active (LFA) Amplifiers
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Defense, specifically the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR), intends to award a sole-source contract for the production and sustainment of Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) Low Frequency Active (LFA) amplifiers to Instruments Incorporated. The procurement includes up to 60 amplifier units, spares, engineering support services, and logistics support, with an estimated contract value of $17 million over a base period of one year and four option years, anticipated to be awarded in the fourth quarter of Fiscal Year 2026. These amplifiers are critical components of the Compact Low Frequency Active (CLFA) sonar system used in new construction of Japanese Auxiliary Oceanographic Surveillance (J-AOS) and T-AGOS Class-25 ships, which are replacing aging platforms.
