Description

Sources Sought DEPT OF DEFENSE DEPT OF THE ARMY is conducting market research to identify potential sources capable of manufacturing and delivering 120mm Mortar Shell Bodies. The purpose of this market survey is to obtain potential sources in addition to current producers to deliver 120mm Mortar Shell Bodies at a rate of no less than 15,000 per month by December 2024. The 120mm Mortar Shell Bodies are used for various purposes including high explosive, practice, smoke, illuminating, and infrared cartridges. Interested sources must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) to provide a response. The response should include company's contact information, capabilities, past manufacturing experience, projected monthly delivery capability, facilities and equipment description, quality assurance evidence, and technical data request documents. The Technical Data Packages (TDPs) for the 120mm Shell Bodies are available upon request and receipt of all required documents.

These munitions are used to support the U.S. Air Force and U.S. allies training requirements by simulating the size and weight of explosive-filled general purpose bombs. The BDU-50 D/B CDI Practice Bombs are manufactured from casting material with specifications of ASTM-A536 Grade 60-40-18 cast ductile iron. They are 60.572 inches long, up to 10.75 inches in diameter, with a nominal wall thickness ranging from 1.145 – 1.624 inches and an average weight of 485 lbs. The production quantity for FY25 is estimated to be 7,000 - 9,000 each, with a maximum yearly quantity of 15,000 BDU-50 D/B. The contract will also include First Article Test requirements. Interested companies capable of manufacturing these practice bombs are invited to provide information on their capabilities, sub-tier vendors, lead-time, prices, production quantities, and size status. The Technical Data Package associated with the BDU-50 D/B CDI Practice Bombs is classified as Distribution D and requires registration with the U.S./Canada Joint Certification Program. The Department of Defense, Army Contracting Command seeks industry partners for a major production contract related to the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) under the Strategic and Operational Rockets and Missiles (STORM) project. The scope of work involves the production and support of GMLRS rockets, including unitary, alternative warhead (AW), and extended range variants, with a proposed annual delivery rate of 14,004 rockets. Deliveries are to commence in February 2027, with a potential three-year contract covering FY25-FY27. Sources Sought DEPT OF DEFENSE DEPT OF THE ARMY is seeking capable sources for the production and delivery of the Bomb Live Unit (BLU)-129/B 500 lb. Low Collateral Bomb Case. The BLU-129/B is a 500 lb. low collateral damage weapon made from a carbon-fiber composite for low fragmentation. It has the outer mold line and mass properties equivalent to a standard MK-82 General Purpose Bomb and is compatible with inventory laser/Global Positioning System (GPS)/Inertial Navigation System (INS) guidance fuzes. The U.S. Government anticipates a yearly production of approximately 200-400 units for Fiscal Years (FY) 25-29. The contract will also include First Article Test (FAT) requirements. Critical skills and processes required for manufacturing the bomb body include carbon fiber helical winding, composite curing treatments, composite machining, pressure washing, coating/painting, and testing and assembly of the bomb bodies. Interested vendors must be registered with the U.S./Canada Joint Certification Program (JCP) to gain access to the Technical Data Packages (TDPs) associated with the BLU-129/B. The TDPs are classified as Distribution D and contain export-restricted technical data. Interested companies capable of manufacturing the BLU-129/B Low Collateral Bomb Case are invited to provide information on their capabilities, timeline to reach Full Operational Capability (FOC), Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) prices, minimum and maximum monthly production quantities, facilities and equipment, past production experience, and business size.
