CNC Lathe Machine for the National Data Buoy Center at Stennis Space Center, MS
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration intends to award a sole-source purchase order to Phillips Corporation for a Haas ST-20 CNC lathe machine and compatible tooling. The contractor will deliver and install the machinery at the National Data Buoy Center located at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. To maintain operational continuity, the new lathe must utilize the Haas Next-Generation Control system to match existing machinery, integrate with Haas-compatible BMT65 tool holders, and interface with the facility's Wireless Intuitive Probing System. Phillips Federal is the exclusive distributor of these Haas CNC tools to the U.S. Government, and the sole-source determination is based on avoiding excessive retraining and proprietary software compatibility costs. Although this is a presolicitation notice and not a request for competitive proposals, firms believing they can meet the requirements may submit substantiating documentation to Abigail Green at abigail.green@noaa.gov within 15 days of publication.
