SIM-001 Small Arms Orientation Device & SIM-002 STE LTS Indirect Fire
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Defense, through the Department of the Army’s W6QK ACC-Orlando office, issued a Special Notice for a Request for Solutions under the Training and Readiness Accelerator II effort for the Small Arms Orientation Device and STE LTS Indirect Fire. The work focuses on prototype development for a weapon orientation device and an indirect-fire training/instrumentation capability that can support ballistic model-based engagement, capture firing data, replicate firing events, and let a forward observer see notional impacts in near real time. Key objectives include accurate operation in low-light conditions, resilience to training interference such as metal or electromagnetic effects, minimal setup and teardown, and, for the orientation device, size and weight no greater than the current laser small arms transmitter with a 72-hour battery life target. Prototyping is planned in 12-month periods of performance and the place of performance is Orlando, Florida.
