95--Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism Study RFI
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory is seeking information to support a study on the effects of the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism on U.S. exporters. The RFI asks industry, academia, trade associations, and other stakeholders for emissions, production, and methodology data related to iron and steel, aluminum, cement, fertilizers, and hydrogen. NETL is particularly interested in facility- or product-level carbon intensity data, existing reporting records, calculation methods, and comments on barriers and differences between U.S. and EU CBAM approaches. Responses are due by 2:00 pm ET on Friday, June 19, 2026, must be emailed to CBAMStudyRFI@netl.doe.gov with “CBAM Study: Request for Information” in the subject line, and narrative responses are limited to 3 pages with Excel data appendices.
