Request for Information (RFI): Special Mission Vessel (SMV) – Helicopter, Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) & Small Craft Support Vessel

The Department of the Navy, NAVSEA HQ, is issuing this Request for Information to identify potential industry sources for a Special Mission Vessel optimized for maritime security, including Class 2 Unmanned Aircraft Systems and small boat interdiction operations. The Navy is seeking capability statements for either the design and new construction of a vessel or the acquisition and modification of an existing platform, emphasizing the use of existing, non-developmental platforms where possible. The required vessel must be a steel monohull or catamaran approximately 300 to 400 feet in length with a minimum sustained speed of 10 knots, a range of 9,600 nautical miles, and a certified flight deck. Interested parties must submit their capability statements and cost estimates electronically via the Safe Access File Exchange application by 3:00 PM EDT on August 19, 2026.
