The Department of the Air Force, on behalf of Vandenberg Space Force Base, is seeking capability statements and past performance from qualified small businesses to recover and transport heavy equipment. The contractor must safely retrieve a government-owned Caterpillar Challenger MT765C rubber-track agricultural tractor, weighing approximately 36,000 pounds, from a ditch on a North Vandenberg mountainside and transport it roughly 20 miles to a designated location on the base. Due to the challenging terrain, the scope includes clearing heavy brush and foliage to establish an access road, conducting a comprehensive site assessment, and providing all necessary rigging, winching, and lifting equipment. All operations must be completed within 72 hours of receiving the authorization to proceed, and the work must be performed at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
