Existing Illumina sequencing Infrastructure
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Health and Human Services, National Institutes of Health, intends to award a sole-source purchase order to Illumina Inc. for the Illumina Protein Prep platform. This platform is required to support the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases Genomic Technology Section by combining high-throughput, next-generation sequencing-based proteomics with approximately 9,500 SOMAmer protein targets and dynamic range compression technology to detect low-abundance proteins. Crucially, the system must natively integrate with the agency's existing Illumina sequencing infrastructure, including the NovaSeq X Plus platform and DRAGEN bioinformatics pipelines, to eliminate the need for additional software customization. While this is a notice of intent to sole-source, qualified small businesses may submit capability statements to Lynda Cole at lynda.cole@nih.gov by 7:00 a.m. EST on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
