Measuring mouse body composition
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases is seeking a Whole Body Composition Analyzer to measure fat mass, lean mass, and body water in live mice. The instrument will replace an existing analyzer that is over 17 years old and no longer operational and will support shared use across multiple laboratories in ongoing obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disorder research. The requirement calls for rapid scan times of about 1 to 2 minutes per mouse, no anesthesia, high precision and reproducibility, non-invasive longitudinal measurement, minimal operator variability, and validated performance in peer-reviewed metabolic research. This is a total small business set-aside presolicitation for performance in Maryland, and the primary contact is John Burton at burtonjo@mail.nih.gov.
