RFI - UMTE X Band Transmitter

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) is conducting market research through a Request For Information (RFI) for an Unmanned Threat Emitter (UMTE) X-Band Transmitter. The RFI seeks industry solutions to consolidate and replace obsolete, single-function transmitter systems (TK-1, TK-2, TK-4) currently facing diminishing manufacturing sources, increasing sustainment costs, and excessive Size, Weight, Power, and Cooling (SWaP-C) footprints. The objective is to identify commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), modified COTS, or developmental technologies that can combine the functionalities of these legacy systems into a single, modernized, and supportable framework. Key requirements include an operating frequency of 6.5 GHz to 15.5 GHz, Power Amplifier (PA) Power Out of 250 W, and an Effective Radiated Power (ERP) threshold of 85 dBm. Vendors are asked to provide white papers addressing technical approach, SWaP-C impact, interoperability, Technology Readiness Level (TRL), sustainment, and Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost and schedule estimates. Responses are due by July 18, 2026.
