Title: Intent to Sole Source NextSeq 2000 Sequencing System

Department: Veterans Affairs, Department of

Procurement Target: NextSeq 2000 Sequencing System instrument

Summary: The Veterans Affairs, Department of intends to sole source a purchase order for the NextSeq 2000 Sequencing System instrument through Illumina Inc. This procurement is for the James J. Peters VAMC in Bronx, NY, specifically for COVID sequencing in the Research department. The NextSeq 2000 Sequencing System is an integrated system used for automated DNA clonal cluster generation, sequencing, and analysis. It is essential for the VAMC to sequence COVID and is believed to be the only suitable candidate. The system has the capability to run multiple samples at a great sequencing depth with a significantly lower cost. It is also compatible with FDA EUA approved COVIDseq test kit for detecting SARS-CoV-2. The system's high quality and accuracy in sequencing and analysis of variants make it especially useful in COVID research. The procurement includes the instrument, embedded touchscreen monitor, control software, DRAGEN Bio-IT secondary analysis pipelines, installation, training, and 12 months warranty. The NextSeq 2000 system is currently being used successfully at other VA sites. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes, and no solicitation will be made available. Responses will be considered for future procurements.
