Z--ALPO STABILIZATION OF STAPLE BEND TUNNEL

The Department of the Interior National Park Service is seeking a contractor for the tunnel stabilization of the historic Staple Bend Tunnel at the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site in Pennsylvania. The firm-fixed-price scope of work includes developing a stabilization maintenance plan, scaling loose rock, conducting a paleontologist-led fossil inventory, installing rock bolts, pouring concrete, installing drainage systems, and performing optional 3D scanning and bat house installation. To support the work, the contractor must meet strict historic preservation protocols, adhere to environmental and endangered bat protections, and provide qualified personnel such as a certified tunnel inspector and a paleontologist meeting PRPA standards. Proposals for this 100% Small Business Set-Aside must be submitted to primary contact Brian McCabe by the extended deadline of Friday, October 30, 2026, for a performance period running from November 9, 2026, to December 31, 2027.
