SSV MOONPOOL (EXTENDED-TERM)
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Navy, Military Sealift Command, has issued a sources sought notice to identify Jones Act-qualified, U.S.-flagged host vessels for an extended-term charter to support Naval Special Warfare training operations. The selected vessel must accommodate 45 government personnel, run up to 45 days without resupply, and facilitate the launch, recovery, and servicing of various combat submersibles and watercraft. Crucial technical capabilities include Dynamic Positioning (DP-2), a dry moonpool for manned submersibles, a certified Navy hyperbaric chamber, and secure spaces meeting ICD 705-1 standards. Operations will base out of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek in Virginia Beach, Virginia, for a period of performance starting September 28, 2026, comprising a one-year base period and two option periods totaling nearly three years.
