Maintenance, Repair, and Preservation of Caisson 4-5 Spare
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Navy, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility, intends to award a stand-alone, firm-fixed-price contract for the maintenance, repair, and preservation of the Caisson 4-5 Spare steel hull asset. The required scope includes transporting the asset to the contractor's facility, performing extensive structural and mechanical repairs, conducting ultrasonic and visual inspections, replacing seals, valves, pumps, and fendering, and executing complete preservation and operational testing. Work is scheduled to take place at the contractor's facility under strict safety, environmental, and quality control regulations during an expected period of performance from March 3, 2027, to September 3, 2027. The government anticipates releasing a request for proposals in August 2026, with proposals evaluated on a lowest-price, technically acceptable basis for a contract award in December 2026.
