Non-Research Long-Term Care facility needed for the enrichment and socialization of Non-Human Primate colony
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is seeking a long-term, non-research sanctuary to provide permanent housing and lifetime care for approximately 130 non-human primates, specifically rhesus and pigtailed macaques. The selected contractor must take full ownership of the animals, manage transport support, implement structured social group formation, and deliver comprehensive veterinary care and behavioral rehabilitation in enriched, naturalistic enclosures. To qualify, the contractor must operate a Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries accredited facility where no breeding, research, public contact, or commercial trade of animals takes place. Proposals will be evaluated on a Go/No Go basis for GFAS accreditation, followed by an assessment of technical factors—including facility suitability, staffing, and past performance—which are significantly more important than price. Offers for this firm-fixed-price contract must be submitted to Jennifer Gartzke at xuy7@cdc.gov by the extended deadline of July 20, 2026.
