Notice of Intent to Sole Source: RM Young Anemometers
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, through its Eastern Acquisition Division, intends to award a sole-source purchase order to RM Young Company for 262 anemometers for the National Weather Service’s National Data Buoy Center at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. The work is for proprietary replacement wind sensors that must remain compatible with existing systems, including SCOOP and CMAN stations, and match the required form, fit, and function of the current RM Young propeller anemometers. The requirement emphasizes low-power operation, one-inch pipe mounting, reliable long-duration deployment, and wind-speed and wind-direction measurement consistent with the existing NDBC data acquisition setup. Interested sources proposing an alternative must provide detailed capability information by email to Kari Webler, and contractors must have a valid UEI registered in SAM; no solicitation is currently available.
