Vertical Launching System (VLS) - Plenum and Lower/Upper Uptake
Contract Opportunity Analysis
The Department of the Navy, Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division, anticipates a contract requirement for the procurement of the Plenum and lower/upper Uptake Assembly to support the MK 41 Vertical Launching System Production Program. The selected contractor will be responsible for the manufacture, assembly, testing, and delivery of these critical structures, which manage and direct high-temperature exhaust gases during vertical missile launches. Work must be executed in strict compliance with a government-owned Technical Data Package, requiring ITAR registration, certified NAVSEA-standard welders, and non-destructive testing for ablative-to-steel bond integrity over an anticipated five-year ordering period in Port Hueneme, California. The procurement will be conducted as a full and open competition for a firm-fixed-price single-award indefinite-delivery-indefinite-quantity contract, with the Request for Proposal anticipated for release on or around September 2026.
