66--EBSD/EDS SYSTEM UPGRADE
Active
Interior, Department Of The
Special Notice: INTERIOR, DEPARTMENT OF THE, US GEOLOGICAL SURVEY is planning to upgrade their EBSD/EDS system. The U.S. Geological Survey's Denver Microbeam Laboratory is proposing to negotiate a contract with Oxford Instruments America, Inc. for the procurement of one new combined electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD) and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The EBSD/EDS system is typically used for simultaneous imaging of the morphology, average Z, and constituent elements of structures, phases, and features in a sample. It allows for optimized geometry to maximize signal and minimize shadowing for viewing a large range of magnifications. The system also includes temperature stabilization for reliable and high sensitivity signal collection. The proposed system should be capable of operating in an accelerated voltage range between 5-20 kV and should include software with instructions for end-user familiarization. Additionally, the hardware should include a detector, PC, and a 27" widescreen LCD display. This is a sole source notice, and the Government believes that only Oxford Instruments America, Inc. can provide the services that will satisfy the agency's requirement. Interested parties are invited to submit a capability statement by the specified time and date to be considered by the Government. Please submit all responses via email to ldwilliams@usgs.gov. The Government reserves the right to cancel this requirement.
