Alternative Fuels & Feedstock Initiative to Add Value to Seed Oil Crops through Improved Preprocessing, Scalability, and Valorization of Product Streams
Contract Opportunity Analysis
Battelle Energy Alliance, on behalf of the Idaho National Laboratory, is seeking Expressions of Interest for the Department of Energy-funded Alternative Fuels and Feedstock Initiative. University-led research teams must propose methods to improve the post-harvest preprocessing, storage, separation, and fractionation of seed oil crops. Deliverables must focus on increasing seed crop value by reducing processing costs, maximizing yields, and valorizing non-oil streams, while demonstrating scalability to support an Idaho National Laboratory-led technoeconomic assessment. The anticipated project duration is 12 to 24 months, and interested teams must submit their qualifications and a project statement to chase.egbert@inl.gov and BFNUF@inl.gov by October 15, 2026.
