Special Notice: VETERANS AFFAIRS, DEPARTMENT OF is planning to issue a sole source contract for Medication Return Envelopes with Disposal. This service is typically used for the safe and proper disposal of patient medication. The Department of Veteran Affairs, Consolidated Mail-Out Pharmacy (CMOP) located in Hines, IL intends to award a firm fixed price contract to Sharps Compliance, Inc of Texas. The procurement is justified under the authority of FAR 13.501(a) and VAAR 819.7007 due to an urgent and compelling need for these medication return envelopes. Sharps Inc. and the Takeaway Medication Recovery Envelopes are currently the only system in place that meets both the DEA and VHA requirements for patient medication return and disposal. The government will continue to monitor the marketplace for potential future competition.
