Contract Opportunity Analysis

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 16, is seeking non-emergent wheelchair transportation services for the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas. The selected contractor must provide 24/7/365 coverage to handle an average of 30 to 40 round trips daily for veterans and discharges, utilizing the VA's VetRide system for scheduling. This Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business set-aside requires all drivers to be at least 25 years old and clear VA background investigations prior to the projected contract start date of August 1, 2026. While the primary place of performance is the Houston catchment area, up to two percent of the trips may extend to Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.
