Kennebec River Maintenance Dredging

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, is issuing an unrestricted Invitation for Bids on behalf of the U.S. Navy for maintenance dredging in the lower Kennebec River, Maine. The work covers dredging three portions of the Federal Navigation Project to support navigational requirements for newly constructed surface combatants at Bath Iron Works. The scope includes dredging about 80,000 cubic yards of clean sand from the Doubling Point, Bath Reach, and Popham Beach areas, using a trailing suction hopper dredge, with dredged material placed in approved in-river and nearshore disposal sites. The solicitation is expected on or about 15 June 2026 through SAM.gov and PIEE, with the work window set for 1 December 2026 through 15 February 2027 and an estimated construction cost of $1,000,000 to $5,000,000.
