The Geological Survey is offering a cooperative agreement opportunity for a CESU-affiliated partner to engage in a collaborative study focused on lake trout reproductive health in relation to thiamine deficiency syndrome across the Great Lakes Basin. The objective of this funding is to investigate the impacts of dietary thiaminase on the survival of lake trout eggs and larvae, which are critical to the restoration and management efforts in Lakes Michigan, Huron, Erie, Ontario, and Champlain. This research is vital for establishing self-sustaining lake trout populations, as outlined in existing management plans. Interested applicants must be participating partners of the Great Lakes Northern Forests CESU Program, with funding available up to $70,000. Applications must be submitted electronically by 5:00 p.m. ET on April 29, 2024, and inquiries can be directed to Faith Graves at fgraves@usgs.gov.
