The Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation at the U.S. Department of State is inviting proposals for a cooperative agreement titled "Biological Laboratory Network Mapping Assessment and Optimization in Chile," with a total funding amount of $5 million. The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance Chile's laboratory network for biological threat reduction, particularly in light of challenges highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, by mapping the laboratory network, assessing biosafety and biosecurity measures, identifying cybersecurity gaps, and improving supply chain management for biological materials. This project is crucial for creating a coordinated laboratory system that prevents the accidental or deliberate release of high-consequence pathogens and ensures a rapid response to biological events. Proposals must be submitted by July 22, 2024, and interested applicants can contact Samantha Anderson at AndersonS1@state.gov for further information.
