The Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) is offering a funding opportunity titled "Magnetic Acceleration Generating New Innovations and Tactical Outcomes (MAGNITO)" aimed at discovering and developing new, more powerful magnets to enhance energy productivity and reduce electricity generation costs. The program seeks advancements beyond current rare-earth magnets, targeting a magnetic flux density greater than 2.5 Tesla or a maximum energy product exceeding 800 kJ/m³, and encourages the integration of artificial intelligence, computational physics, and high-throughput materials fabrication in the application process. Approximately $20 million is available for 6-10 awards, with individual grants ranging from $500,000 to $3 million, and interested applicants must submit a Concept Paper by September 24, 2025. For more information, applicants can visit the ARPA-E eXCHANGE website or contact ARPA-E at arpa-e-co@hq.doe.gov.
