The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, on behalf of the Navy's Environmental Readiness Division, is seeking qualified organizations to participate in a cooperative agreement for comprehensive stranding investigations of high-priority marine mammal species in the Hawaiian and Mariana Archipelagos. The primary objective of this initiative is to provide technical support for the Navy's efforts to respond to stranding events, conduct necropsies, and analyze tissue samples, thereby enhancing understanding of cetacean health and compliance with environmental regulations such as the Marine Mammal Protection Act. This project underscores the importance of ecological stewardship in military operations while contributing to scientific research on marine mammal health in the Pacific region. Interested parties must submit a two-page statement of qualifications by August 8, 2024, with funding ranging from $250,335 for the initial 12-month base period to a ceiling of $3,717,000 for potential follow-on periods.
