The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is offering a cooperative agreement opportunity for a CESU-affiliated partner to conduct research on the impact of hydrology and inundation on the health of tree islands in the Everglades. The primary objective is to compile and analyze hydrologic and tree island data, assess how hydrology affects tree island conditions, and develop criteria for integration into ETree, a web application that provides hydrologic indicators for tree island locations. This research is crucial for advancing the understanding of Greater Everglades restoration efforts and informing decision-making processes related to ecosystem restoration. Interested applicants must be participating partners of the South Florida Caribbean Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) Program, with funding amounts ranging from $53,016 to $106,200, and applications are due by 5:00 p.m. ET on June 21, 2024.
